... since I have posted here.
Hope all are doing well. I've been spending much of my time on Facebook as it really is a bit more interactive than LJ. And that is what social media is supposed to be about - interacting. Some of you here have already found me there. For others, I can be found under my full name Eric Vazquez. I know not everyone knows my last name here.
With that said. Whats been happening? Attending an all day session with His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama last week at the Beacon Theatre was an awe inspiring and exhilarating experience. He gave an all day (2 session with a lunch break) discussion on Compassion.
The Quintessence of Compassion was a commentary based on Chandrakirti's Entry Into the Middle Way. A 7th Century text on the first spiritual perception. The discussion covered the first chapter - the first 17 verses and was very enlightening - though I must admit the translator sounded somewhat redundant. Clearly it can be said that there were certain portions of the text that were emphasized - areas to put more focus into in review and retrospect. Awesome way to start the day.
The day got even better and all along the embraced theme of compassion. After making certain my friends got the right train back to CT, I met with a very old and still dear friend whom I have not seen in 27 years. We were childhood best friends until a minor disagreement had us not communicating. High school ended and so did the opportunity to heal our differences. Basically, we just mutually lost touch. He found me first on Facebook and we have been in touch ever since. We made arrangements to meet ....
... and it was just like old times with not much of a time separation. A few Margueritas, some nachos, salsa, and guaco ... lots of laughs and catching up. It was an AWESOME DAY and one filled with the theme of compassion ironically (in a very good way) running right through the heart of it. I couldn't ask for more if I had attempted to coordinate all the components and themes with intention. It is what it is and what it turned out to be.
