I suck at posting.

I haven't made an actual post in ages. AGES. I also suck at filling out icon requests. Remind me never to offer it again.

My entire spring break was spent in Miami, with my Crazy Cuban Clan. It gets sadder and sadder every time we go down there, because it seems like every illness that one could possibly have, one of my relatives has it. My poor Godmother/aunt has Alzheimer's, which has turned her into an entirely different person. She's constantly worried that she's being taken to a home, and so when she gets in the car she always asks "Where are we going? Where are you taking me?". She's forgotten my name entirely, (I'm "la niña") and she can't really remember anything about my dad. She sometimes forgets my mom (her neice) when she's in an unfamiliar context. It's heartbreaking for my grandmother (Abu) to watch her little sister slip farther and farther away from reality.
There's more problems than that, but it's the only one I really feel like going through in detail. :-/

I did get a chance to look at the University of Miami campus while I was down there, and ooohhhh, it's absolutely gorgeous! They have hammocks on campus, which I found strangely hilarious. The next time we go (there will be a next time, that much is sure) we have to take an actual tour of the school. It has the great music programs I'm looking for, plus the big city environment/warm climate. *g*

I spent most of the break reading. I finished The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, which didn't quite live up to the hype. As morbid as this sounds, I was bored by the huge lull between the action (aka the suicides), and many visits to the Department of Backstory were paid. Overall, though, the book was very well-written, and the dark humor permeated throughout, which I love. I've decided that I need to watch the movie. Anyone seen it? And is it any good?

Then I FINALLY read New Moon by the amazing Stephenie Meyer. All I have to say is 'wow'. I actually like it better than Twilight. It really gave readers a better look inside Bella's head, I think, because Edward was absent. We saw her relationships with other, non-vampire characters a lot better, and it made me like her more. And course, there's Jacob Black's utter awesomeness, and I had a really hard time deciding between Team Edward and Team Jake. But then I came to my senses. EdWaRd 4-EvA!1!1!
On Stephenie Meyer's website, there's an "Outtake" where Edward tried to send Bella money for college under the guise of some random corporation, and Bella of course stubbornly refuses. If you haven't already checked it out (if you're a fan of the books, of course) I highly recommend reading it.

I have to go do homework and silly, mundane things like that. Ciao.

books, life, twilight
