i decided that i'm moving to california.
....I got to wondering why I love Chicago so much. Why is this city so damn great in comparison to others... and I remembered a quote that went " 'I think that's how Chicago got started. A bunch of people in New York said, 'Gee, I'm enjoying the crime and the poverty, but it just isn't cold enough. Let's go west.'"
I had to laugh when I heard that, because it's true, but another part of me wanted to feel offended, all swollen up with Chicago pride. But the thing is Chicago is an amazing city, but not because of the obvious.
Chicago is amazing because of the way the skyline rests on the lake, or how all the little purple flowers in memorial park look up against the skyscrapers. Chicago is the homeless man with the white afro who we nicknamed '"snowball", the cute tattooed couple who sit together eating thai food on their break, its the way people throw their furniture outside during the winter to save their parking spot, and the way cubs fans leave wrigley field.
