You know how you never know how precious things can be until you lose it? Yea. I think I will now be much more awware about conserving energy.
These past three days I had no power at all. This is bullshit because if I live a block away I would have had electricity. It was torture walking to the train station and seeing people with AC on and mowing their lawns. WTF? Every day there will be sounds of fire trucks because every time ConEd tries to fix something...a fire starts. I slept earlier because there was nothing to do. I got bored into studying! All the food in my frig is gone and wasted. *sighs*
Even now, only parts of my house has power and others don't. Yesterday night was so depressing. Everyone on the block was bored so everyone was outside of their homes, sitting around and talking. As it got darker, the next street had lights...the street behind us had lights...and the only house on the block with the lights (2 houses down) became the object of everyone's envy. In all my life living in Astoria, it was never this bad. Even after the big blackout, we got power back the next day.
On the plus side, the one thing that made these days bearable is WORK. At work, there's electricity. I spent most of my day at work anyways. Work is boring but it pays more than I get for dealing with stress and retards.
