Standing alone on a stage
Under a single spotlight.
No audience.
The auditorium is so quiet
You could hear a pin drop.
Her mouth opens.
Air breathed in.
Her voice echoes out into
The open space
About a song of love or
Lack thereof,
Searching for an ear.
But there is none.
Where will the sound go?
It continues to travel to
The farthest corner of the room.
As her voice sings
The spotlight dims,
Leaving her in darkness
Standing alone on a stage.
The auditorium is no longer quiet.
Her voice filling every space.
A door opens
Letting in light as
Someone walks in
With an ear to listen.
