Following Jones' two-run game-winner off Roberto Novoa, Jeff Francoeur stepped to the plate and drilled a three-run homer that caused brief hysteria. Moments later, the suburban Atlanta native, who made his Major League debut as the starting right fielder in the nightcap, accepted the fans' wishes and answered the curtain call.
Francoeur, who had been called up from Double-A Mississippi earlier in the day, was greeted with a standing ovation before his first Major League at-bat. In his three at-bats before the homer, the 21-year-old outfielder had gone hitless with two strikeouts.
