Fighting sleep to the death....

Jun 22, 2004 03:54

Danny is on his way over.
And I feel bad going to sleep before then and making him hang out by himself in my house.

We haven't hung out in a while.
And I always seem to fall asleep instantly at his house.

So now, I'm using Live Journal as a means to stay awake until he gets here.

Interesting developments in my life:

....Just kidding. Nothing interesting ever happens in my life.

A random quotation from my Music Literature book:

"The last movement, a sprightly Allegro in the home key of G, alternates with an idea in the key of the dominant."

A random interesting concept:

A famous linguist once wrote an a famous work that, of all the infinite combinations of words in the English language, "cellar door" is the most beautiful.
1) How does one quantify the beauty of a word?
2) How does one rank a single phrase against an infinite amount of alternates?
Being as I take such an interest in vocabulary and grammar and such, I think I would like to read the work in which he makes this assertion.

My latest and greatest idea:

A non-fiction book titled, "The Nature of Altercation."
In this work, I will spend a great deal of time observing and analyzing arguments and disputes to try and determine, to a precise moment, what causes people to argue.
In my experience thus far, I have several points in mind, and boundless sources of research data.
I feel this would be an honorable contribution to society.
To allow people to pinpoint exact moments in their interactions with others that cause strife, and thereby enable them to avoid such moments in the future.

Which leads me to another interesting idea:

Maybe I'm not cut out for math or science.
Maybe I should be a linguist.
Or a writer.
Regardless, my academic life needs direction.
Badly.
Ideas?
Anyone?

I have one.
I'll become a teacher/band director, enjoy my job, feel fulfilled in my life's work, make poverty-level salary, and marry a rich and beautiful Massage Therapist.

Hahahaha......

In conclusion:
Danny better hurry up, sleep is slowly overrunning my senses.

More in conclusion:
How does one go about making links in their journals that, when clicked, open a new, much larger section of that same journal entry, for the sake of sparing those who might not particularly want to read the entire thing?

EDIT: I figured it out, as you can see. Thanks for the help Liz.
