wow..... España was fun! :)
so, i'm home from España... a.k.a. Spain. I met my family there on Wednesday; they got there on the Friday before T-giving week. The reason for the trip was that.... remember that Big Fat Greek and Spanish Wedding (cousin Becky married Spanish guy Paco) from about 2 months ago? yeah, we had another wedding reception.... except in Spain this time! yay!
Paco's family is so nice... it was nice to see them again. I even met one of his female cousins who happened to be my age. The only sucky part was that I couldn't understand ANYTHING that she said... all she could say was "hello" and "how are you doing?" in English... but I guess that's just about all I can say in Spanish so it's ok. WOO!
Ok, so the plan was for me to fly US Airways from Detroit to Philadelphia, then Philadelphia to Madrid. Well, my 1st flight was delayed an HOUR. so, it actually left Detroit 10 minutes AFTER it was supposed to be in PHI!!! gah!!!!! AND Philadelphia's airport is messed up.... it's constructed very illogically, you have to take a shuttle bus to get from the regular airport side to the international departures, and that bus took like 15 min. And then I run to my gate, only to find out that the flight to Madrid took off 20 min before I got there. UGH.
So I got re-routed on British Airways to London, and then to Madrid. The only problem was, my luggage didn't make it cuz it stayed with US Airways. And when I got to Madrid, the desk to claim your luggage was closed. Paco called US Airways multiple times and they never knew anything about any bag. So I lasted the whole trip on one pair of jeans, socks, and a shirt. Luckily I was there with my brother and I used some of his clothing and his toiletries cuz mine were in my luggage (they don't let you keep any liquids in your carry-ons anymore).
But besides THAT, Spain was soooo freakin cool!!! I wanna go back.... and for a longer period of time than 3.5 days :) We went to Paco's hometown of Zaragoza for the majority of the time that I was there, and then the last night we went to Madrid and us Kotsis cousins went bar-hopping while the aunts and uncles met up with Metropolitan Epi for dinner (used to be Fr. Epi at Assumption, then got elevated to Metropolitan and relocated to Spain 3 years ago).
All in all, had a great time. Today (Monday) I slept from 2:30pm until about 8:15pm because I had to catch up on sleep... jet lag was killing me.
And now, it's time for bed... again! :)
