When I was a kid I wanted to be a fashion designer but my mom said it's difficult to make it in fashion. So I gave that up and tried to think of what else I'd be good at. Music producer, interior designer, photographer, artist, writer. With the exception of the first one I was pretty good at the rest but I wasn't passionate. I received a BA for Advertising & Marketing Communications. I initially wanted to be a copywriter when I applied to college but was opened to other aspects of the business. In the end I still wanted copywriting to be a career. When it came to job searching it proved difficult. I had a hard time finding internships that didn't require previous experience. Even if it wasn't in the job description it's all they were looking for. There were two companies that seemed willing to hire me but it fell through for whatever reason. People I knew that worked in Marketing weren't any help either. It's been two years since I graduated and the only job I've been able to find were seasonal paying volunteer jobs which I hated and vowed to never do again. My passion for copywriting fizzled after that. For the past few months all I keep thinking about is starting my own clothing line (Boy London-esque) and/or a line of lipsticks. The only problem is the lack of money. You'd think with a BA and knowing the right people it'd be easy to score a job.
Wrong.
