Ollie chuckled when she came home and spotted, not one, but two pairs of tattered Converse lying on the floor. Mike spent the night. Again.
Ollie smiled when she passed Billie Joe’s closed door and heard two sets of peaceful snores radiating from the room. Mike fell asleep in Billie Joe’s bed. Again.
Ollie frowned when she came home to find only one pair of tattered Converse on the floor. Mike hadn’t spent the night. First time.
Ollie gasped when she passed Billie Joe’s room and saw her son on the floor crying.
He looked up at his mother, “Mike left me.” The tears spilled over his eyelashes.
Ollie knelt down next to her child, “I never knew.”
