Beach!!!!!

My children's longing to go to the ocean, combined with my husband's lust for comping rendered me insane and I agreed to go camping at the beach in January. I have thus discovered that insanity is good for the soul. *grin*

We drove to Sunset beach between Santa Cruz and Monterrey and set up the ginormous tent trailer we bought this summer for dirt cheep. The weather was clear and mild and we walked along the sand to the beat of crashing waves and a chorus of seagulls. The salt air and blew some much needed life into me and the pure joy on the faces of all my boys was very satisfying.

We had fun figuring out the new tent trailer and its quirks, made the boys tote water back and forth, and enjoyed being somewhere other than home. (Especially me, as I have been feeling more and more trapped inside... in more ways than one.)

Saturday we took the Monterrey Bay Aquarium by storm. It was awesome. My favorites were watching the otters close up, watching this HUGE school of fish that are just like the ones in Finding Nemo (there is a 30 foot wide by 30 foot tall glass wall looking into a "outer bay" tank and these huge tuna and hammer head sharks float around with the school) or all the different types of Jelly Fish.

Sunday it got rainy, the kind of rainy where you know its only going to get worse. Normal rain is no big deal, but a storm is... you know, rain coming in sideways with wind so strong you walk backwards cause you cant see when looking forwards. So instead of packing up we went to the beach and got soaked and the boys almost blew away. It was great!

We did manage to pack up, and I only almost killed Shaun once. Note: never get to close to the blocks that hold the tires on the trailer cause if you accidentally kick one out the trailer will roll. And on the way home we stopped at the Jelly Belly factory and took the factory floor tour! It was soooo totally awesome! I now know how to make a Jelly belly AND have some interesting ideas for the nest time I play Robbo Rally.

Good stuff I tell you.
