I am a horrible, horrible daughter in law...
Here is the story (as of 10pm):
In-laws were driving home and some kid got all road rage like on them and tried to run them of the road. A bit later they found the truck parked and my Father in Law got out to write down the license plate number. The kid came out, words were exchanged, kid sucker-punched Father in law, knocked him clean out. Kid panics and takes off in his truck whilst his friends (whose house the kid was at) stare in disbelief.
Father in law is at the hospital (Shaun and mother in Law there too) and he is going in for a cat scan to see if his face is broken. He doesn't look too bad off, but his face on one side has a huge knot from where he hit the ground after being knocked out, and the other side where he was punched is good and swollen. He bled a lot too because he is on blood thinners.
So here is why I am such a horrible person. I think the whole thing is rather amusing... as in I have been trying not to laugh since this all started about 4 hours ago. Its horrible that he got punched in the face. But I also think its all quite funny. Oh dear.
7am update/amendment:
I think the reason I found the situation so funny is because it was surreal... as in this kind of stuff only happens on soap operas or cable dramas. And then by 11pm I was just stupid tired (it was way past my bedtime... yes, I normally go to sleep pathetically early).
Anyway, his jaw is broken in three places and is going into surgery for it this morning. *sigh*
