so i saw explosions in the sky's 10th anniversary show in chicago on thursday. it was great. congress blows for sound, but i knew this going into it and stood directly in front of the sound dude. dynamic bands(post rocky with quiet parts) seem to attract a bunch of 'woo' crew. people who yell during the quiet parts. i hate it. but it comes with the territory.
they killed the ending with 'the only moment we were alone' (video reference for that song here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtW67TCAn0E). people clapped for an encore but after building for an hour and a stellar ending, munaf had to come out and tell people that was that. that song is the perfect ending and anything else wouldn't be a fitting finale. his intro percussive guitar hits are amazing. never gets old.
missed the sunn show. i think i made the right decision for myself personally. by all accounts an awesome show. i realized the album i have pent up is all textural with cleany guitar. fundamentally a post rock album. i've started practicing solo again. after the basement wetness, i tore down all my equipment and just set it back up for the first time in weeks.
also been looking for a good pitch to cv and found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8CucinhagQ sonnus g2m(demo here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwMij53sbSc) - 100 bucks. guitar to midi converter. you can auto tab things. sounds rad. but then i get the kenton midi to cv and use my synthi and basically get that first video but with my delays and what not.
