Slowly catching up...

Jun 26, 2008 00:00

Okay, so I am now officially pooped from reading and writing so much, but I still have a long way to go. I fell really far behind with the last two weeks of work which included a total of six third shift shifts (six and a half, really) along with other hours on top of that. But now that I am only working twenty four hours tops in a week and have at least three days a week without any work I should be able to fill in the allotted hours per week and even catch up a bit. I really enjoyed the stories in The Best American Mystery Stories 2007 and can't wait to get my hands on 2008's version. I'm starting to think mysteries are my thing.

I also started reading The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. The first little bit that I read seems intriguing enough, and if she's helped so many artists accomplish their dreams, then I'm all for trying the program out. And, possibly the most exciting news related to the McNair Scholars program is that by ten o'clock tomorrow when I meet with L, I will have all my hours for last week and some for this week done. Then I just need thirty more hours between Thursday and Sunday. It shouldn't be too hard to accomplish, especially since I work early each day.

Okay, now on to the things that don't concern school. I feel kind of bummed out. I scheduled this week, while doing a lot of school work each day, to hang out with four people, (one of them twice) and all of them cancelled. There was Ashleigh, Amanda W, Sarah and Jim. This actually worked out for me because then I was free to do mom's dirty work, but I felt the hunger for some human to human interaction. That, my friends, is why I went over to my neighbor's fire today. I had a total blast with Brit, Bri, Nick, Kyle, Kayla, and Jared, especially since they are all a very loose group and enjoy one another's company as well as mine and I theirs.

Well, I started this entry close to midnight, and it's now half an hour later, so I'd better wrap this up and get to bed. I have a meeting tomorrow with L at Luna Cafe, so that should be fun, and then I might be going out with a friend to do some shopping.
