Fred stood in the darken living room and watched the city below. She wouldn’t deny that she was waiting for Lilah to come home. It was Thursday, and Fred knew the other woman wouldn’t be home until later. She would go to bed before Lilah came home, though. Lilah didn’t like it when Fred waited up for her at night.

As the full moon shone into the window, causing shadows to be cast across the floor, Fred began to think of her former friends. They were living in a ran down hotel and she was living in a penthouse. Things had changed so much over the last year, and sometimes she couldn’t believe at one time she’d hid inside of a hotel room and wrote on the walls. Now she shared a bed with Angel’s sworn enemy.

She closed her eyes as flashes of memories flooded her mind. Fred could remember the first time Lilah had ever approached her. It was when she had ran away from her parents. Before she could make it to Caritas, Lilah pulled up beside her in her BMW, a smile etched on her lips. And she knew what to say to get Fred to trust her and to get her into the car. For the first time, Fred felt as if she had a true friend.

They’d spent the day together but when Fred started to feel guilty for not speaking with her parents, Lilah had allowed her to go. She went back to the hotel and decided to stay in Los Angeles. She said it was because she needed to stay and fight, but Fred knew it was a lie - she was staying because she wanted to spend more time with Lilah. Their day together had intrigued her.

Shortly after, she started to sneak out of the hotel and found herself at Lilah’s doorstep. She knew Lilah wasn’t pure, or good, but it didn’t matter to her. Lilah was the woman Fred had always wanted to be - strong and confident. She wanted to be like that and to stop being the victim. And, she knew she would wait in the wings until Lilah was ready to bring her into her life.

After a few months of visits, Fred found herself in Lilah’s bed. She allowed Lilah to teach her how to touch another woman and Fred was an eager learner. It didn’t take her long to know what Lilah liked, and didn’t like. As their relationship grew, so did Lilah’s boldness with Fred. Soon they were using toys and ropes. In the bedroom, Fred easily gave Lilah the power, but out of it, she made sure they were on equal footing.

Lilah had brought out a certain darkness in Fred, one she had to rely on during her time in Pylea. She wasn’t the innocent girl Angel and the rest of them thought she was. No one, except for Lilah, knew what she had done in order to survive. She had pushed it to the side, knowing none of Angel’s crew would understand, but Lilah had found it and slowly pulled it out of her. And, for the first time in years, Fred felt liberated and free.

Maybe some of the things she did were morally wrong, but she didn’t care anymore. She rather be morally bankrupt than be the little girl, who needed the hero to rescue her.

As the clock chimed, signaling it was one in the morning, Fred pulled herself away from the window. Lilah would be home soon so she turned and walked to the bedroom they shared. After slipping off her bathrobe, Fred slipped into the bed, sighing as the cool sheets hit her bare skin. She rolled over onto her side and closed her eyes, and waited.

Soon she heard the front door open and she listened as Lilah moved through the living room. Fred laid still as listen to Lilah stripped her clothes off before slipping in beside her.

“I know you aren’t sleeping,” she whispered as she rolled Fred over onto her back.

Fred looked over at her and smirked. “You always know, don’t you?” she asked as Lilah sat up and leaned against the headboard.

“Yes,” Lilah merely answered as she raked her fingers through Fred’s hair.

Fred moved on the bed until she was between Lilah’s thighs. Leaning down, she ran the tip of her tongue over the other woman’s wet folds, smiling when Lilah shuddered and tangled her fingers around her hair. “How was work?” she asked before sucking Lilah’s clit into her mouth.

“Angel and Cordy are missing,” Lilah moaned as she roughly pulled on Fred’s hair.

“Good for them,” Fred answered as she pulled herself up so she was kneeling in front of Lilah. Reaching down, she thrust three fingers inside of the other woman’s tightness and started to thrust in and out as her thumb rubbed tight circles around her clit.

Lilah barked out a laugh and started to thrust her fingers into Fred. “I remember a time when you would’ve been upset over knowing your friends were missing,” she whispered as she reached around and cupped Fred’s ass, her fingernails piercing her soft skin.

Fred jumped a little at the pain but then moaned. “I know what I am now. I don’t have to pretend that I care about them,” she breathed.

The words made Lilah smiled and she started to finger fuck Fred even faster. Soon, the only sounds in the room were their ragged breaths, followed by the sound of both of them crying out as they came on each other’s hands.

With their bodies still shuddering, the both of them laid on the bed and wrapped their legs and arms around each other and Fred’s mind drifted to Angel and Cordy for a brief moment. She wanted to care but she couldn’t bring herself to. She’d been with Lilah long enough to know she wasn’t a sweet innocent. And, even though Fred had lost a layer of herself, she knew this was the life for her.

For the darkness she felt with Lilah was better than the fake lightness she had felt at the hotel.
