As most everyones probably been sobbed to by now, you're probably aware that I recently kicked someone out of one of my roleplaying threads. What you are probably NOT aware of is the actual truth of the mater, as most people, when drasticly upset, are very unlikely to point out that they were flatly informed of WHY they were being punted and WHY they were in the wrong.
I have, for about two weeks now, been putting up with someone who I've barely forgiven for her attack on my freind Zoe, who was defending my sister from an verbal attack by Rayner.
Now my point is this in the punting. It has nothing to do with my feelings on the Zoe matter, though she never did give the much much needed apology.
My point is this: if a person is so entrenched in a personal chrisis that she cannot distinguish a signature line for which I wished a review from a threat to her person.
If they are so drasticly upset that they cannot remember somthing that was repeated no less than four times point black in a recorded IM conversation who's logs are easily checked.
If they are so bereft of joy, light, and the ability to function normaly that they cannot follow the VERY BASIC rules of Forum Roleplaying and show courtesy to their fellow players and respect the rules of IC and OOC information.
Then that person has no place being in a roleplaying thread at all until they've gotten themselves together to the extent that they can once again treat others with courtesy and respect. If you're too discombobulated to remember basic facts and courtesy than you don't belong around other people until you've resolved your 'personal chrisis'.
GM's like myselves, quite frankly at the base of it, all but put our SANITY on the line, or in the case of threads like wasteland we DO put our sanity on the line, for the ENTERTAINMENT of others. We do this without charge, we expect nothing more in return than the gratitude of our players, and their ability to abide by the rules of a thread.
I for one do not tolerate glory hounds, people who can't follow my rules, selfish people, people who treat profiles as though their character had the psychic ability to look into the subjects head and find out all this information. If I tell someone four times that they don't know anything about a character, I expect to be respected on that issue even if it means they take NOTES.
I'm TIRED of excuses. I know damn well what it feels like to have your life falling apart around you, and this does not prevent people from showing basic courtesy to others or following, as it were, the rules of engagement.
There will BE no more excuses.
