These days, I feel a little bit better about my comicbook geek status (despite the fact that I'm still so behind on the indie stuff) because I've finally added a few superhero titles to my pull-list. I used to pick up Ultimate X-men, but Kirkman made me drop it, and I only started picking it up again for Toad, who's no longer in it. In fact, the only superhero comics I ever picked up were Marvel--Spiderman and X-men, and neither felt like something I was really getting into.
These days, there's The Flash and, of course, Booster Gold. I'd love to say Blue Beetle is added to the pull-list, but sadly, it's been cancelled.
I do love Flash, though it's so weird getting into a character who's settled with a wife and kids when I fell for him as an immature man-child in a cartoon, but all I want to point out now is the gorgeous cover:
Really. That's just gorgeous. I wish I were with my old roomies so we could geek out about exactly how well-executed this cover is, but...I just love it. There's something so impressive about how ever single smaller pose describes the plane it's covering. It makes it so much more than "superimposed x on top of y." It's just brilliant, IMHO.
And kudos to the colorist, because I would've just slapped flat red on that and called it done.
I really like this comic, and for some reason, that is so weird to me.
Love Booster even more though.
