So, I think I've not mentioned this yet. Guess what? My hours got cut! Yes, I'm still full time, but I think they're trying to kill all the overtime that's running rampant around the hospital. So, I work 6:30pm till 6:30am every other Saturday, 5:30pm till 5:30am Sundays, and now 8pm till 5:30am Mon and Tues. I lose 5 hours a week, so every other week it was 5 hours overtime... BUT I get to spend more time at home with my honey and I don't have to do 6pm treatments anymore. Sucks to lose that much money, but the time trade's almost worth it, heh.
Speaking of sucking and the hospital... A/C's broken. Not ALL of it, mind you. Cat ward, the runs, and the lobby feel great. But treatment? ICU? Yeah, hot as hell. We had all the lights out and fans everywhere. We were eating icies and trying not to move too much. Still sucked. I hope it gets fixed today - it's dangerous for the patients AND the employees.
Oh, I got my annual review today. The written one was kinda harsh, but nothing I didn't expect really. It kinda boils down to "you're new and it's showing". That and I *do* lean slightly toward lazy, AND I have a memory issue that I'm working on. Overall though, the verbal review was good. She said I am improving, and some of the things I need to "fix" are just going to take time. She said she appreciates my punctuality and smiling attitude, and she said she knows how hard it can be to work with Dr. Barb. She said the key is balance - making sure the animals are ok while getting chores done, equally. So overall, I need work but I'm not too bad. And, heck, I got a 65 cent raise, so they must at least kinda wanna keep me. *smiles*
Other than WAY too hot to think, last night wasn't too bad though. Lots of WAY too cute kittens to keep me distracted ;). There were 2 hit-by-cars. One is a sad case... She was running around all day. She's broken both her radius and ulna of her left leg - that needs surgery to fix. She's got bad road rash on her back right foot and she's vomitting up a lot of this brown watery liquid. She could have gotten into anything. I feel really bad for her. I'm afraid her owner's not going to be able to afford the $1000+ orthopedic surgery. *sigh* I'm hoping for her.
Oh, MAN, and that storm? Like woah. It was 11pm, and I was tossing around the thought of walking the dogs a little early, when there were like 3 bright lightening strikes in a row, then this REALLY loud GOOSH of rain on the skylights. It was pouring so hard we thought the windows were gonna break. It was a CRAZY storm, and the debris on the roads this morning confirms that. So I went on break and called Dave instead ;). It lasted a couple of hours I think, and it's WAY cooler now after the storm. Dogs got walked after. It's nice now.
*yawns* OK, this is way long enough. I'm wiped and I'd like to curl up with my husband, the birthday boy, before he has to go to work. Night all!
