So, I didn't get to sign up for any workshops, but Matt and I DID go to the
Tribal Revolution show Saturday night, after Friday's amazing hafla.
Let me tell you, the show was no less amazing. I don't know that I've seen so many totally stunning performers in one full weekend. *falls over* The sheer talent alone is enough to bowl me over, heh. It was totally amazing.
We saw
Blue Lotus Tribe,
Daveed Korup,
Carenza's Caravan, Elizabeth from Evergreen, CO,
Jezebelly,
Karim Nagi,
Zafira,
Dark Side Tribal,
Crystal,
Barika, Kallista (student of
Ruby),
Hipnotic, and
Kami Liddle.
It was SO amazing to see all those awesome people perform. Daveed and Karim are just awesome drummers and it was such a treat to get to see them perform. Watching the dancers, seeing their moves, how they did them, the kinds of dances they put together... it was so fun! All in all it was great.
It was so funny too... not 8 hours earlier I mentioned to Daph that I wanted to belly dance to Eminem. At the show? Hipnotic danced to "Lose Yourself" ;).
We did stand for the whole show. The seating was all even-levelled, and in my seat I could see NOTHING because of this tall guy a row in front of me, so Matt and I stood by the wall. We had a really good spot and I could see it all. :D
Everyone was so nice! I introduced myself to Luci, Christina, and the awesome girls that do the Champaign County ren faire (who's names I don't know... :P), and got to talk to Karim, Daveed, Kami, Hipnotic and a few others. I really love the belly dance community. Everyone's so warm and welcoming, and even though I'm a beginner, I feel like I kinda belong, you know?
Did I mention that at the hafla Karim tagged me to go first in the circle dance? Yup! *swoons* Heh, I'm SUCH a fangirl now!! *laughs*
I guess that's really it for the show. I did take some pics at the hafla, nothing at the show though. A few good ones below, maybe more later. There WERE new venders there Saturday... and since Matt and I knew we had some extra money, we spent it instead of finally starting up that savings account, heh. ;) We kinda spent a lot, but it was extra and SOOO worth it, hehe. Matt has a drum now!! A nice tempered aluminum one with an artificial head, from
Marrakech. We got him Daveed's instructional DVD too. I got my belt and a Tribal Rev. shirt. :D
So, all in all a succesful and fun belly dance weekend. Satisfying and motivating. HUGE thanks and appreciation goes out to Christina and the Blue Lotus Tribe!! *hugs and shimmies*
