Holiday week <3
Posted this on FB: While we were sitting on our blanket waiting for the fireworks to start after a long frustrating day of me getting lost (I don't handle that well) and going to the WRONG place for fireworks, Devin looked at me with that sweet head tilt look she does and said that she was really glad it was just us, that she likes to spend time with just me sometimes. *melts* I have the best damn daughter EVER.
Sometimes she really knows how to put things in perspective for me :D.
Had a really good week with her. Tues we had a good time grocery shopping for lunch items for the rest of our week. That night we had dinner with Lee, then Erika and Kyle. Erika, Kyle, Devin and I all went swimming. We swam for 3 hours!! They got to experience the workout that is Devin ;). It was super fun, and the lit pool is REALLY cool to swim in in the dark.
Wed was the 4th madness. We lounged around till we left, late, at 6pm. Got lost but eventually made it to Frontier Days by 7pm, only to learn there were no fireworks!! Racetrack!!! They recommended we go to Mt. Prospect. We were already there, so we did a little fair stuff, hung around for an hour. We rode the Ferris wheel, Devin rode the carousel twice. She played a couple of the (kid guaranteed) win a prize games, and we shared a funnel cake. Sweet sugary bliss. Then we set off for fireworks. We made it, parked at Bosch and watched the fireworks there. I was tense, but once we got there it was lovely. We laid in the grass, Devin laid on me. She was initially COMPLETELY distracted by some glow sticks that the nice lady behind us gave her, ignoring the first half of the show, saying that she needed to be CREATIVE with them, repeatedly and emphatically :). Then she settled down on me and watched the rest of the fireworks. Not the best show we've seen, but it was fun and we MADE IT, so I think that was the important part... o_O. She asked about Kate's new baby, and requested that next year we go back to Schaumburg cause she liked their fireworks better <3.
Today we went to the MSI to see the Mythbusters exhibit!! Dev and I were joined by Lee and Rian. We had a blast. We tore it up, going to the genetics area ("I wanna see the chicks!!"), Science Storms, the train area, the Toy Maker, You! the Experience, the circus area, Eye Spy, and of course the Idea Factory in addition to Mythbusters. Which, by the way, kicked all KINDS of ass, and should be visited by all. We spent like an hour and a half in there <3. Pulling the tablecloth, racing the rain, dodging bullets and throwing cards... OMG. I got the MythBusters Plausible Messenger Bag and Dev picked out a giant rainbow plastic slinkie. So. Much. Fun. I love that damn museum so much.
And here we are, coming down off of our awesome week, getting ready for work tomorrow :P. Ah well, such is life ;). We have dinner plans Sat with the Hahns to meet the new baby girl, at Devin's request <3. Comic and sleep time, methinks.
