May update, heh
Mmm... I FINALLY have a minute to just sit here and RELAX, and write a little. I'm SO behind, I've not updated anything in detail in weeks, heh. I've been TOO BUSY to update, which sucks cause THIS is the stuff for updating. Mrow.
It's been so long I'm not even sure what all I've been doing! Heh... Well, ok, so let's see. My leg thing (I suspect my RSD spread from my ankle to my thigh) got WAY worse and I'm in physical therapy for it, but I can only afford a month. Which sucks cause it seems to be helping, and while I CAN stretch on my own, it's not as easy to give myself electrical therapy safely. Hrm. So there's there.
My financial sitch kinda tanked, so I'm dealing with the fallout and the aftermath of that, hence the "donate" button earlier. It's hard, and sometimes the emotional rollercoaster is debilitating, but I've got loving support from friends and family, and Devin is my rock. I'm working on it and trying to push through and organize and motivate myself, and there are some different opportunities opening up, so that's good. I just need to Keep Moving Forward!! *fireworks*
Work's been hard. One guy was constantly out, then he finally quit. Another girl was late a lot, and now SHE'S been out sick a lot. Add in that we lost a guy to another facility and we've been CRAZY short lately. We're working hard, fast and furious with way too few people. I hope we hire soon. The drive's been hard... traffic just plain SUCKS now, hard core. It pretty much takes me a minimum of 2 hours to get home these days. Factor in gass prices and the HEAT and the commute is just deadly. And don't get me STARTED on the heat... I loathe summer with the passion of 1000 suns, which lately's felt like an appripriate sentiment... -_-. The first day of summer's June 2-something, and I'm ALREADY sick of it and am dying for Fall. Srsly. Kthxbye. There are a bunch of fun things I wanna do this summer, but between the heat and the lack of $$$ I'm just trying to survive. Meh. Thank the GODS for swimming. And an A/Ced mall.
In an effort to keep my sanity, when I'm not dealing with money or my leg or work I've been trying to be social. All this crap is making me want to hermit, but I know that is a self feeding cycle and I don't wanna lose it all just cause I kept to myself... We had a couple of playdates with Ellie at the end of April, really fun stuff. May 1st was Free Comic Book Day which was LOADS of fun. I love my comic shop. I got to be social with Keith's wife AND we ran into Zach and Albie there :). That weekend I also had breakfast with Katie, Paul, Atlas and Shosh!! We ate at Walker Bros, one of my FAVE places, so that was pretty cool. It was GREAT to catch up with them, then Shosh, Dev and I went to the Long Grove Chocolate Fest. It was a great decision, we all really enjoyed ourselves. Shosh had a good time looking at their art galleries. I got to oogle yarn :D. And Devin got a carosel ride, one of her FAVES.
The following weekend was Hip Tease with Amirah teaching and then il Troubadore, Hipnotic, Amirah, Kelly, and Legacy performing. The turnout was low, but the bonding with my belly sisters was SUPER high and I cannot thank Neta and Jatare enough for not only throwing the event but helping me to attend it too. I learned a LOT from Amirah about phrasing, popping and locking, and dancing WITH the music. "Expand... contract!!" *laughs* Awesome experience. I can't WAIT for Tribal Rev... I dunno how I'll get to that show, but il Troubadore's performing again, and I hear this is a show NOT to miss. We'll see what we can do. That was also Mother's Day weekend, so Sunday Dev and I had dinner with my mom. She cooked and the fam just chilled, so that was nice.
That Wed I went out with a friend from my complex for some much needed decompression. That Thurs I did laundry that had sat for... too long o_O. Took me 4 hours to get it all done, and that's WITH 4 washers and 4 dryers. Yeesh. May 15th Dev and I met up with a very pregnant Katie, Paul and Atlas at The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum for an awesome playdate. We had a REALLY good time and Atlas (who's 1) handled it well. They ran, they played, and Devin (Atlas fell asleep) saw butterflies. It was the coolest thing ever. That's also the weekend I realized I was MONTHS behind on uploading photos. That Sunday I uploaded like a fiend and chilled at home watching Disney channel with Dev ;).
The 18th was my last belly dance class assisting Neta. Her foot is all healed up, so there's no need for me to be there anymore. That Thursday Zahra came out and we ate at Sushi Ya then watched a whole bunch of True Blood stuff online ;). That weekend I was supposed to go to Peoria area for Henry's 1st birthday, but I could not afford the gas. I spend the weekend chilling with Devin and beginning the search for a second job. We went swimming for the first time this season that Sunday, and DAMN was Devin a fish! Floaties for the win. I was off Monday, but that didn't make the work week any shorter... we had our IACUC inspection so there was so much stress you could swim in it. Bleck. But all this week Devin was REALLY into belly dance, the dancing, the music, the DVDs, so that's been fun.
Yesterday we were busy. I got my oil changed, belly danced, had physical therapy, then hung out with Albie and Zach. I got to help Neta work on her solo, and have to say, getting into the whole choreography thing again was CRAZY fun. Today Liz and her kids and Dev and I went to Monkey Joe's in Lake Zurich. Dev's been a little sick so she was kinda clingie and skittish, but overall we had a really good time. She bounced, she snacked, and we were social. But she didn't nap yesterday and we pushed it today, so she's been down since 3 and is still down, heh. I'll prolly go in there in a half hour if she stays down. Tonight I'm chilling with Zach, Albie AND Erika in true epic style ;).
Tomorrow? I work. :P We're behind in changing and everything's crazy with the staffing issues so a bunch of us are working overtime to just try to keep up. Good times, yo. Good times. But the money is good, the money is good, the money is good... I have an interview with Chicagoland Veterinary Technician Services after work Monday, so hopefully that'll pan out.
Annddd... for now, that's about it! Whew! I'm exhausted, so more later, my pretties. :)
