All I want for X-mas is some 'Child Abuse'
Working at a shopping mall brings one into contact with all manners of events. I witness clips of conversations from people who pass by the store, people with happy families, people with broken families. Children, the elderly. All sorts of things.
I am working across the way from a Claire's, a little specialty junk store for girl accessories. I just witnessed a mother paying one of the ladies there to pierce the ears of her child. Oh, did I forget to mention her child was a baby? Like, 8 months old? Like, seriously, what the hell? I seem to recall young girls lamenting about wanting to get their ears pierced, and their parents saying, "No, not until you're 12-16." This is a fucking baby.
I was incensed when my mother got my sister's ears done when she was like, 5 or 6. I was absolutely furious. That's just too young, kids don't need body piercings at all. It's like giving a 6 year old a tattoo. What the fuck, right?
Just another thing to add to the list of things I won't do if and when I become a parent.
