Books & Stuff

Mar 24, 2011 01:03

I have so many things I want to talk about, but when I have the time I don't have the energy and when I have the energy I don't have the time.  I suppose this will be a complaint for the rest of my life.

I found out this week that I got an A and a B+ on two of the huge assignments that were due the week before last week.  I already know that I did well on the test I took that week and I'll find out about the last thing on Monday, but I am feeling cautiously optimistic.  Not sucking at school has been a remarkable boost to my ego.

On a more disappointing note, I have also learned that the one drug class I need to complete my minor is offered at the exact same time as the advanced fiction writing class that I have been dying to take since I got here.  I have to pick the drug class, but I'm really quite depressed about it.  I'll be taking advanced poetry writing instead but I'm just not as excited about it.

A lady cashier at Wal-Mart told me yesterday that she loved my hair (it is very short with lots of bright orange and yellow streaks in it) and that she had nicknamed me "Starburst" in her head the moment she saw it.  This made me ungodly happy.

In lieu of any other actual content, I am now going to post a list of all the books that I currently have on my shelves (both Austin and Lubbock) that I intend to read.  I have been absolutely consumed with the desire to read lately and have been unable to accomplish it:

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen*
The Eating Disorder Sourcebook by Carolyn Costin*
The Gormenghast Novels by Mervyn Peake
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
The Child Thief by Brom
Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart
Zoo by Otsuichi
Summer, Fireworks and My Corpse by Otsuichi
7 Billion Needles by Nobuaki Tadano (manga)
Our Name is Melancholy by Leilah Wendell
The Circle of Magic Quartet by Tamora Pierce**
The Circle Opens Quartet by Tamora Pierce**
Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce**
The Will of the Empress by Tamora Pierce**
The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray by Chris Wooding**
Chalice by Robin McKinley**

And that's just the stuff I actively want to read RIGHT NOW that I can see or remember off the top of my head.

*Books I have to read for school
**Books loaned to me by Alex, a friend from my English class.  We did a big book trade.

Now to read about eating disorders and maybe a chapter of something fun before I get to bed.

college, school, books/literature, texas tech, life, go team me!
