Yesterday was a long, long day. I woke up feeling just as crappy as I felt the day before, so I decided that it was high time to get myself to the doctor. I called Boy to see if he'd give me a ride to the campus clinic because I didn't want to get behind the wheel of a car and I REALLY didn't want to bike across campus. He agreed and took me over there, only for us to discover that it was closed. Of course.
At this point, it was incredibly apparent that not going to the doctor wasn't an option, so Boy got on his iPhone and looked up walk-in clinics in Lubbock. The only one we found was kind of far away, but we went anyways. Boy ended up dropping me off and taking off to do other stuff while I filled out paperwork and waited. I felt like death. After about an hour of waiting I got called back and poked and prodded a little bit. The doctor said that she was pretty sure that I either had mono or strep.
Mono or strep. Oh. JOY.
I was sent down to the lab where they took my blood and I am happy to report that I was very good during the whole process. I think maybe the fact that I was super sick made it more bearable. And then I had to wait for another hour or so while they did whatever they do with my blood to determine what I have.
So the good news was that I don't have mono or strep. The bad news was that I just have a really, really bad bacterial infection. Yay?! They gave me a prescription and said that I should be feeling better by Tuesday and that if I don't or if I start having trouble breathing, I need to go back to the clinic. Or go to the ER. Oh boy....
So then there was the ordeal of getting my medicine. They sent my prescription to my Wal-Mart so I could just go pick it up. Because it's Tech's first home game this weekend and all the parents were in town, Wal-Mart was PACKED, including the pharmacy. I ended up standing in line for probably fifteen minutes only to get up to the counter and be told that they were out of my meds, but that they could transfer them. I shuffled across the street to the Walgreen's and talked to them about getting my meds transferred and they did it. I felt bad because they were just about to close, but I GOT THEM.
And then I went home and forced myself to eat because I have to take these meds with food. I have had NO appetite for the last few days, so having to take my medicine with food is a good incentive to get me to eat.
I still don't feel much better this morning, but at least I don't feel worse. It looks like it's another day stuck in my room trying to feel better. I wish I had a new video game or something...
At least it's not mono.
health,
fuck this shit
