Man I have been a productive Xan today. As many of you know, one of the cornerstones of my Inner Xanness is that I am inherently a lazy creature. If I could live my life as a critter that spent the majority of its time at home doing whatever the hell I wanted except when there was fun stuff going on outside the house, I would. Gladly.
That said, however, there is something awesome about going to bed thinking "Man, I did shit today. GO ME."
Got up and went to Logic. I have not been understanding my Logic lately, but I chalk it up to the fact that I have not sat down and dedicated any real time to figuring it out. I hope to do this tonight and maybe tomorrow as well, as I have a sneaking suspicion that we're going to have a pop quiz on Friday. I have a sneaking suspicion because this morning when the instructor asked if anyone had any questions before we got started for the day, I asked if he was going to give us any surprise quizzes on the subject any time soon. The class all perked up from out of their sleepy states and looked at him with the same expression that Pavlov's dogs must have had as they watched him reach for the bell. The instructor seemed quite amused by this and said "If I told you then they wouldn't be a surprise." Typical teacher answer, but it certainly didn't do anything to debase my suspicions.
ADRS class #1 was cancelled for the day, so I took advantage of the time to go to the Wellness Fair that was going on up at the REC today. I wouldn't normally go to something like that, but my Diet & Exercise teacher had said that if we went and got proof from fifteen booths it would count as our project grade. So SCORE. I actually learned some cool stuff (I now know how to give a breast exam! And apparently I am a good hand-washer! YAY!) and got a ton of free goodies, so that was actually pretty neat!
Then was Latin. My prof called on me THREE times, but oh well. I managed to get easy sentences to translate each time. I need to sit down with my Latin too, but I'm feeling pretty confident with that one. Then after Latin I had an appointment with my advisor to figure out my degree plan and figure out What I'm Doing With The Next Few Years of My Life.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this publically yet, but I've been giving some fairly serious thought to switching my ADRS (Addiction, Disorder & Recovery Studies) minor into a double major and get a degree in CFAS (the full major version of ADRS - it stands for Community, Family & Addiction Studies) along with my English degree. I'm enjoying my addiction studies classes and the more I think about it, the more I realize that this really could be something that I could pursue with a career. You don't need to have a Master's degree to be licensed to be a LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) and, as Mom said when I brought this up with her, "It's not like it's a field that will be going anywhere. You'll always have a job."
Morbid, but true.
It would mean being in school a little longer than planned (probably) but... Is it worth it to have a degree that will more than likely provide me with a job in the future?
I basically need to figure this out within the next few weeks and go and meet with someone in the Humanities department to talk to about potentially pursuing a double major. My English degree requires a minor and if I upgrade my ADRS minor into a second major I might be required to go into yet a THIRD field to fulfill my minor. Oy vey.
And now I am typing up the "real" version of this English thing to turn in along with an apology to my prof. And then Boy and I are going to destroy the wedding dress. And then I might be going to anime club or I might be watching Labyrinth with Sarah and Tarryn while helping them finish off their costumes. We shall see.
I think I'm going to make an "Addiction" tag.
