1st Day of School

Aug 27, 2009 21:38

It was a good day overall.  Fortunately Tuesdays and Thursdays are my late-starting days, so I didn't have to get up early.  So hurrah for that!

My first class was Diet & Exercise, who is taught by a grad student who also happens to be a personal trainer.  Apparently the class is going to be about ten to fifteen minutes of lecture and then the rest of the time we're working out.  And she said that if any of us don't really know how to work out or need a regimen or something, she'll help us figure out out.  I think this is going to be very encouraging!  I'm hoping that this will help me get into better shape this year, which is one of my major goals.

The second class was Family Dynamics of Addiction & Recovery.  The prof is HILARIOUS, which helps a lot since it's quite a somber subject.  I am really looking forward to the rest of it, even though he said that a big chunk of the class is going to be about self-evaluation and examination of our own family dynamics.  This will most likely be... interesting.

The last one was my English class, Intro to Critical Writing.  I had to take either that or Into to Creative writing, which I would have preferred but all of them were full.  Honestly, this will probably work out for the best since I'm not nearly as confident in my critical writing skills and the practice will probably do me very good.  The prof for that class is interesting as well.  She's Indian, but the class is centered around contemporary Caribbean literature, which I must admit I'm very unfamiliar with.  So I'm curious to see how that turns out.

Tomorrow I have to get up early and go to Logic, my other ADRS class and then a bit later, Latin.  That last one I am PARTICULARLY interested in seeing how it turns out since Latin is usually my bane.

I hope I make some friends soon.

Edit
I went across the hall to Boy's room to return something (and steal some of his popcorn) and mentioned while I was there that I might need to borrow his printer at some point.  He then handed me an essentially BRAND NEW printer, explaining that he had bought a new one thinking that his old one was broken, only to realize that it was in fact out of ink.  So uh... Yay!!
