Why live life from dream to dream
and dread the day when dreaming ends?
...for the tender grace of a day that is dead
shall never come back to me.
Yes, I tend to have a rather bleak outlook much of the time. Like an elf, either looking backward and forward until it's no longer bearable or living in the moment with a lightness and intensity usually only shown by children. Because it's all pointless, if you look at it one way, or it all matters, from another point of view. Or you can stop worring about whether it matters or not, which is more difficult to do but easier to live with. (The ending matters, but is also beside the point.) Which is a roundabout way of saying that, when I say something quiet and flat and matter-of-factly desolate, it doesn't necessarily represent the whole thought, the whole outlook.
