a picture and a Seattle restuarant recommendation:
Vibrant purple crocuses we encountered during long walks with the dogs (E's not mine). I had to take a picture.

Restaurant:
Monsoon in Capitol Hill
The food was gorgeous, tasty, and simply fantastic.
The restaurant was tiny -- 42 seats in the dining room, 6 at the chef's counter, and 12 outside on the patio (it was too cold for this while we were there). Reservations necessary, at least on a Saturday night. It is off of the main strips in Cap Hill and a little strange to find, but wow. I am so glad we did! We will be going back.
It was worth eating late (that was when we could get reservations).
We ate like kings --
* duck and dried shiitake stuffed grilled squid (there was also granny smith apple or jicama in the filling, not sure which)
* lemongrass crispy tofu with roasted bell pepper and shiitake mushrooms -- fantastic!
* wokked venison with yellow curry, peanuts, and wood ear mushrooms -- venison and yellow vietnamese curry was not something I would have put together but holy crap -- it worked really well.
* a huge 3# dungeness crab prepared with various spices -- delicious. I am a MD blue crab girl but this was some tasty crab!
* wokked soft noodles with yellow foot mushrooms, duck egg and green onions -- the noodles were fresh and this was incredibly tasty. one of my favorite parts of the meal!
plus jasmine rice!
Seattle folk -- check it out!
Before this meal we went to the big Uwajimaya Village and got pearl tea at this place that stays open late. They had lychee coconut jelly -- ohman. Delicious. Sugary. Goodness. I got taro flavored milk tea. Yummy, despite (or possibly because of) the guilt of ingesting approximately 3 billion calories and carbohydrates through one big fat straw.
