I'm not sure who it is that says "It's the little things that count," but they seemed to be close to being almost on-to-something.
it's the little things in life that are titillating. Like having your Santa Cruz friends take you out to dinner and the final midnight showing of Donnie Darko at the local Indie theater.
Or like going to the local 7-11 and finding a mystery flavor in the Slurpee vending machine and then spending the whole night trying to figure out what fruit/fruits they emulate.
Or like finding out that they have sour cherry flavored edible straws for said Slurpees...which make it that much more difficult to distinguish said flavor of Slurpee.
Or like bellydancing by yourself in the comfort of your own dorm for hours with no inhibitions.
Or like having your roommates knock and ask if they can join.
Or like you all goofily walkings in search of Banana slugs on Campus on a Saturday morning.
Or having your roomates goofily come in with a box wrapped in a pillow case, opening it, and having them cry "Happy Belated Birthday" as you see it's the nice knife set you've been wanting for the last couple of months.
Or buying a CD you can't stop listening to.
Or coming home tired and worn out to a message with your dream guy saying he misses you.
Or not liking your body, but loving your impish, cheshire cat smile.
Or being given bubbles for your birthday.
Or meditating.
Or remembering for the first time in a long time that you love the world and its quirks.
It's good to take this moments when you're most childish and giddy to remember that you'll never quite grow-up. You'll always be a mischevious little sprite with short legs and rambunctious hair who blows bubbles in her room as she listens to music about never quite growing up and always being beautiful for that fact. You'll always be needlessly wordy and that will be part of your charm. You'll watch the world spin like a top and crash into the stars, even if it's just in your imagination.
