I'm still homeless. Which is alright I suppose, because some people are incredibly generous. And I'm finally able to go back to work tomorrow because I'm mostly healed up. Robert's been taking very good care of me. At least soon I'll have some money to contriute as well as to send home to the family ( Read more... )

1. It'll be really nice to have you back at work, Dimitri. I'm glad you're feeling better.

2. Oh god. What did she say? I'll tell her to stop if it bothers you.

I'm glad I'm feeling better too. And I promise to stop shelving things wrong.

And she said she heard I was hurt and hoped I was okay. It doesn't bother me, and it was a nice gesture, but a weird one too.

Oh don't worry about it.

Yes well, that's Mam. She's weird. Desi's mother is having a profound influence on her and she's..I don't know...having a midlife crisis. Sorry she's turned her attention on you. I'll call her a dirty old woman for you!

Don't make her feel bad! If she emails again I'll slip in lots of references to the fact that I'm very very young.

Unless that's what she wants...

Oh... oh dear.

I'm sure it's nothing like that.

It might be...my Mam is a great woman, but Caitlin is younger than she is and she's got this great new relationship and I think it's making my Mam a bit...nutso.

I'll just tell her I'm interested in someone else.

I'll still talk to her, she's a nice lady. I don't want her to feel lonely.

But... you have such a wonderful family. Well, and Duncan, but you said he was getting a lot better... I just don't see how she could turn away from that.

Not that I don't think Dimitri is appealing! Just... maybe not for a happily married woman...

The marriage is still happy, right?

I guess. I think it's a midlife thing. She'll get over it.

But yes, Duncan is actually a LOT better, whichh helps to balance out the crazy.

I'm glad there's at least some good news, then. I hope your mam does get over it before anyone gets hurt. Including herself, of course.

I didn't take offense! I have to say, I'm not used to this kind of attention. It's a bit disconcerting.

I'm glad, I certainly meant none. I can see how you would be disconcerted. This kind of attention from an older woman must be a little confronting, even if it turns out to be innocent. She has the edge in experience, and knowing exactly what her intentions are. Or at least, I presume she knows...

It's a bit confronting to be recieving attention from a woman at all. But I don't want her to feel badly about it.

I know that's the last thing you want. I'm sure it will all work out, sweetheart. You're all sensible adults, after all.
