Well, I found out some unsurprising news today.
I had an appointment with an oral surgeon today as a result of some x-rays they took of my teeth a few weeks ago.
It turns out that my wisdom teeth are impacted... which essentially means they're growing in at a diagonal angle, into the roots of my molars. If I wait more than 6 months to have the surgery, they will weaken and cause an infection in my molars, and the roots of the wisdom teeth themselves will grow down into the nerve in my jaw, resulting in a signifiant risk of nerve damage and the possibility that they would have to remove part of my jaw to get the teeth out.
Here's an astonishingly detailed and accurate drawing of the situation.

All of them are growing in at that hideous angle. Apparently, however, the majority of people nowadays have to have them taken out. So I'm not the only one who will suffer. :P
