tim burton and johnny depp hate me.

roald dahl is my favorite ever.
johnny depp is not willy wonka. i love the dude, but he's not goddamn willy wonka.
tim burton is not roald dahl. again, love the dude, but NOT roald dahl.

freddie highmore isn't charlie, either. but i think he is cute enough that he may be able to get away with it. bless that boy, he is the only thing giving me any hope for this.

i have a feeling i will leave the theater as upset as i was after i saw the film version of matilda which might have been alright had it not been an inaccurate re-telling of my favorite story ever in which the physical appearance of the wormwood parents was reversed since they were played by danny devito and rhea perlman and the role of matilda was given to mara wilson (the little girl from mrs. doubtfire) who is undeniably cute, but not at all matilda wormwood.

i should punch felicity dahl for allowing these things to happen to her father's brilliant work.
i blame her.

according to imdb, wes anderson is doing the fantastic mr. fox, that's another roald dahl story. i'm going to be very angry if two of the most likable filmmakers around these days make me hate them by ruining stories that can make me smile on even the gloomiest days.

i am truly upset about this.

i found a copy of matilda that i didn't have today. i bought it. it makes me smile.
(i also bought the new dave eggers book. it has elastic on it. it also has nothing to do with this entry)

if you haven't read a roald dahl book ever, you should try it.

man, i hope none of these extra creative directors try to do the bfg. seriously, i've had enough.
