"art is not there to provide knowledge in direct ways. it produces deepened perceptions of experience... art is not there to be simply understood, or we would have no need of art." -joseph beuys
oh man... lots to say. so i guess i'll start with the most exciting thing:
john tartaglia: JOHNNY-JOHNNY-JOHNNY-JOHNNY-JOHNNY!!! what an amazing man. i just got back from his solo show at joe's pub and it was sooo great. i loved every second of it. he did a variety of great songs and even showed off his ability to do just about every single southpark and sesame street character voice ever. plus his uncanny impersonation of carol channing. haha. that was my favorite. he is so adorable, hilarious, and just an all-around incredible performer. and so sweet! i got an autograph and a picture with him after the show, i can't wait to get it developed! he makes me smile like nobody's business... i have nothing but complete and utter adoration for this man.
snow: the snow has been absolute madness. and it is freezing cold beyond belief.
dt-ut: my new favorite place. i went there twice over the weekend and it is so nice to just have a place to chill out by myself for hours on end. the coffee is good, the chairs and couches are comfy, the atmosphere is great... and i love it. love it, love it, love it.
the entertainer: so i trust all of you watched the entertainer like i told you to. haha. well, i did. and paul was great. he really carried his team's performance. but although i would love it if he won... i don't think he will because of these reasons: 1. he is just too incredible as a part of toxic audio, he can't leave the group! 2. i saw him perform with toxic at the beginning of january... so i don't know what that means because if he did win, he would probably be under contract in las vegas right now, right? but i love paul, even if he is a bit spastic.
job: i applied and did a mini-interview for a job at buttercup bake shop on friday, but i don't think i got it because i should have heard back from them today since training is tomorrow. oh well... hopefully i can find a different one. but at least i know i will have free time to hang out with the people that are coming to visit. :) well, as much free time as i have considering i still have to go to classes and my internship.
yoga: took a class on sunday at a studio downtown called om yoga. i liked it a lot better than the classes here at the ymca; the studio rooms are a lot nicer and the teachers are awesome. i just wish it wasn't so expensive for each class. oh well... i have a coupon, so maybe i'll take another class sometime this week.
tagalog on site: i'm applying for a summer study-abroad program called tagalog on site. it's a seven-week trip to the philippines where there will be intensive language instruction; it's a chance for young fil-ams, such as myself, to discover their roots. considering i have recently begun this random mission to improve my tagalog, it sounds like an incredible experience and i would love to do it. so... i need to finish my freaking essay for the application. i hope i get accepted because then that would take care of my indecisiveness about what to do this summer.
kristen: ummm... i can't believe i'm going to the one tree hill cast signing for you tomorrow. man. i'll call you when i'm there to let you know what's going on.
whew... that was long. okay, bye.
