RP with Sophie

May 15, 2005 23:42

Klaus bounds off to who knows where and I decide to first visit my bedroom before seeking out Sophie. Poor Sophie. Naive and so young still. She needs to be taught. I regrettably was not there to teach her things and apparently Nosferatu was too incompetant to take my place ( Read more... )

I wonder why he has taken such a sudden interest in my hunting habits. I blink and get a very puzzled look on my face as I start to think back to the victims I have recently tasted.

"It depends on how hungry I am. There was John, I know he was drained completely. There were a few that weren't drained completely. I only took enough to sedate my hunger. I had not killed Ms. Ringhoff all those years ago when I did that to her. Nor did I kill UV when I took from him. And when I was with Nosferatu, he and I split a meal, I had to know when to stop. During another one of my meals, Carolyn distracted me. I think that one survived but I am not sure how much I drained from that one. I was too busy being worried that a hunter was going to destroy me."

His mention of severed heads bothers me. I am horrified at what he is suggesting. Why would you kill something that is already dead or dying?

"Sever their heads? I was never told to sever heads by either you or Nosferatu. I was told to destroy the markings, which I have been very careful about doing."

I shift uncomfortably on my seat. I'm supposed to be severing heads? Uh ho. I frown a bit. I don't like this idea, I don't like it at all.

"I see."

I sit back and uncross my legs, fingertips stroking the leather arms of the chair while I contemplate this.

"Unless you're sure to kill the victim and make absolutely sure," I stress again, "he can return as a vampire. Weak, probably. Third-rate, more than likely. Nearly a zombie, yes, but with enough intelligence to function as a vampire. Because you've not killed your prey, there more than likely are several rogue vampires running about. And not just Luxembourg."

Sighing, I stare at the blank television screen for a moment before turning my attention back to Sophie. "Klaus found a victim of yours in the United States. How he traveled so far, so many miles, in such a short time is anyone's guess. Perhaps he was just on vacation here and had to return home? I'm unsure. He said he could taste you in this young man, which of course caused some concern and a quite a bit alarm. Hence the reason we returned home early."

Which I'd have to make up to him later on, I'm sure.

"Now that I have the information I need, I have a task to complete. From now on, Sophie, you will decapitate your victim and dispose of the bodies. If you're unable to do this, you will refrain from hunting and resort to getting your meals from a blood bag. Is this clear?"

I don't believe there is a worse punishment I could have issued. For a vampire, Sophie dislikes killing. However, she would be more embarrassed to feed from an IV. I do so like causing others to make difficult choices in their lives.

I stare at him and blink several times in succession. Rogue Vampires?

"I... have... fledglings?"

I ponder this. This isn't good, no. Not at all. Who would have come back? He specifically said the vampire Klaus found was male. I don't normally attack males except when I want to sleep with them. That leaves John. John, the kind gentle soul. I know he was just a visitor here.

I close my eyes. Why me? I don't know anything about how to make vampires, nor do I know how to make zombies. If this was explained to me properly, perhaps I would not have this problem now.

"Yes Master, I understand."

My heart bleeds as I hear him tell me that I am to decapitate my victims. That really hurts. I know if I was forced to take all of my meals from a blood bag I would never live it down. Hey did you hear about Sophie, Vlad's fledgling, she won't hunt, she's rather act like a patient her whole undead life. Taking blood from dying humans that need it.

I can't worry about any of this now. I have fledglings out there. I have to find them, either teach them as best I can or destroy them. Since they were accidents, destroying them is the most likely option. Grow a backbone Sophie, show what you are made of. You're a hunter.

"If these creatures are around here, I think it is only fitting that I help destroy them."

"No."

I stand, brush my slacks off, despite the lack of fuzz, and look her directly in the eye.

"You will stay here this evening and read through my notes. Journals thirty-three through forty-two contain information about taking fledglings. Journals ninety-eight through one hundred and seven are about the destruction of one's enemies and how to properly dispose of... food. I will take care of these things myself, as it's my own lack of parentage which has caused this mess."

I wait for her acknowledgement.

I open my eyes and I notice that he is staring at me. He has beautiful eyes.

"Yes, sir."

I am so doomed. I was going to practice the viola tonight, but this is more important than anything else. I will make him proud of me if it kills me.

"Good."

I move across the room and stop in front of her. Frowning, I crouch down and look up at her, cupping her chin in my hand. "This is not entirely your fault. Learn from your mistake."

Then I leave in order to prepare myself for that evening.
