Moving for the moment...

Okay, not physically. I'll still be here at LiveJournal, but for the most part I've moved over to My new blog over at Wordpress.com. I'm still getting the hang of it, but The constant adverts here have been driving me nuts, and I don't want to pay to get rid of them, because I can't afford it. So here's the deal: I have two projects coming up over @ Wordpress, and for one of them I need your help.

Yes, you.

I've never been an athletic guy, but about seventeen years ago I had a pretty bad skiing accident. I hit a ski lodge at top speed. Go ahead and laugh. I'll wait. Anyway, it fractured the lowest vertebrae in my back, and they didn't find the fracture until three days after I was smashed against the deck. After spending nine months in a corset brace, they learned that not only was my back not healing properly, but I had a mild form of spina bifida as well. Needless to say, I spent a lot more time in that brace. Three years to be precise. Now, during that time I wasn't allowed to do a lot of physical activities, so I developed a lot of bad habits, especially relating to food and fitness. Now I'm almost 32 years-old, I'm 5'7" and about 230 pounds. Due to various injuries, my right knee and my back primarily, I'm suffering physically. I need to drop weight. I'm also starting to suffer from sleep apnia. This too could be a weight issue.

So I'm taking a stand.

I've always had a hard time doing things just for myself. I don't know why, it's just in my nature, so when this opportunity came up, I jumped at it. At my gym they've started a program called "Pound for Pound" in which we (the participants) find sponsors to donate as we lose weight. The program that we're partnered with is called "Whiz Kids," and it's a program that helps at-risk youth learn to read. As both a heavy-set guy and an aspiring author, I couldn't say no.

So my new Blog "I Shoot Things" has a category called "Epic Loss," which is (will be) my journey as I attempt to drop the weight, and will (hopefully) make me more accountable to myself and the people sponsoring me. That's where you will hopefully come in. Starting Tuesday, I'm going to start looking for sponsors. If you want to help me out, offer to sponsor me per pound. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, but every little bit helps and helps to keep me motivated to help out the kids, not just myself. Or you could just offer to donate a flat amount (I'll figure out the price per pound later.) I'll also be designing EPIC LOSS items for sale through a third-party distributor, with the proceeds going to the program.

So check out http://xsphotos.wordpress.com/ where I'll be journaling through what I'm doing daily from April 6 until June 8 (The end of the organized event). Wordpress will also be the home of Project 32, which I'll unveil on Tax Day (That's April 15, for all of you outside the states).

Help me out. Help out kids in need.
