Betrayal

It is one of the hardest things to bear in life.  The thought of someone you trust twisting a knife in your back when you least expect it..is not something people like to think of.  I had a recent experience with this horrible sin, and while I was reflecting upon it, my pen sprang to life and this next poem was birthed.  These are just my personal thoughts on the matter.  Enjoy.

Betrayal is the hardest sin to bear
It burns hotter than Hell
Its bite is harder than a diamond
It stings more than wet leather slapped on bare skin
It is colder than a million nuclear winters

Betrayal is the hardest sin to bear
It festers sicker than a gangrenous wound
It tears at you like a thousand teeth on flesh
It weighs you down heavier than lead
It pulls at you stronger than a black hole

Betrayal is the hardest sin to bear
It is darker than a moonless starless night
It is viler than the most unutterable blasphemies
It is more poisonous than an eternity of black mamba bites
It is the stain on your soul that never comes out

And because it is so hard to bear
Betrayal is a death sentence
An unescapable murder of one's heart and soul
It is the bane of mankind
It robs us of what makes us Human

It destroys its victims leaving nothing behind
Not even an emotionally shattered corpse
Its only purpose is to birth hatred and despair
It's a war man has already lost with himself
And breaks even the gentlest soul

Hope you enjoyed
