Hey there fellow Creepies. I just wanted to give you some heads up on recent changes to LJ. Mods, if this isn't allowed, I'll understand if you delete it.

With all the talk of stalkers, killers, internet prowlers and the like, one of the things that I love about this community is that we're always looking out for each other. That said, there's some pretty interesting changes going on with LJ.

People can now link a comment that they have made in your journal (or community post), whether or not it's set to friends-only or not, onto their Twitter or Facebook account, making it known to whoever reads their page.

Know what's going on. If you do not like this option, comment on the recent news post and say what's on your mind. We're up to 17 pages already, most complaining about this very issue.

Personally, I *choose* to keep my LJ and Facebook lives separate. Many times, on this very community, I've heard horrifying stories of internet stalkers and exes that "know too much". I've been there too, and I have worked hard to keep my private stuff private. I personally feel that it's MY journal, it's MY choice whether or not Jim-Bob or Curly Sue can read my posts.

Unfortunately, there is NO opt-out option at this time. It's really cool if you want to be able to have the *option* to cross-post entries and comments, but that isn't the deal. Simply put, you could choose to not enter your log in information for Facebook/Twitter, but that doesn't stop your other friends/readers from cross-posting to theirs.

so yeah, if you're not a fan...

Go here. Complain. Figure out how to make it stop.

Also, all tags with a slash (/) in them are geeking the site out. Apparently, we're not allowed to use those anymore. Ok. I'm done.

*goes to read backlog of entries*

ETA: WOAH SCARY SCARY SCARY. Someone just tested the cross-posting thing on the previously mentioned link. They said they had locked the entry, but it still revealed the entire entry (which was nothing but a testing entry, but STILL COME ON ALREADY)

That's the thing, if i have MY journal private, it means that i WANT to keep things PRIVATE, right? LJ isn't allowing us to keep our privacy anymore. Fuck, fuck and fuck... complain, exercise your RIGHT of privacy.

fight for your right (to party), !public, fucking lj
