A peaceful Brownie meeting...

Before Brownies Kitty and I did some prep which left me with very mucky feet & went round to Handen Road so she could give blood. They wouldn't want my blood anyway even if there were enough of me to be giving it, but I still felt a bit sad not to be able to as I think I would be able to cope mentally (despite being needlephobic) though again with my crap veins I might not physically...

Anyhow, we bopped up to the Hall and beheld the tidy cupboard (Mandy spent a whole day in there tidying) with awe. It is a thing of beauty. So we extracted necessary things and while the Brownies were playing under the supervision of Spectacled Owl and Robin; Cinammon Owl was putting together the backdrop for peace doves & Tylluan and I were making footprint scrolls...

The meeting proper started with a tug-of-peace, where everyone had to hold onto a rope circle and try to stand up, which they did very well indeed, which was a bit splendid. Then there was thinking-in-Sixes as they discussed peace-making & conflict resolution, identifying what would be helpful & what wouldn't be helpful in a given situation (specifically, siblings arguing over sharing toys). There was an awful lot of thinking - should you tell and adult? Would crying just be showing off? How important is respect? They are awfully good at the thinky are my Brownies.

Clearly too much thinky is not so good so there was then a brief burst of mad running-about with a game where everyone has conflicting instructions related to a load of plastic cups. Highly amusing to watch, really. *giggles* And then there was talking all-together about conflicting interests and who tells us what to do & who do we listen to. All that sort of stuff. And how the game was like real life, which mostly seemed to be "like people doing their Christmas shopping in Bromley".

Next up was the God-thinky. Each Six had a long piece of paper with footprints drawn on. I told them the story about Footprints In The Sand & then they wrote into the feet-shapes how God brings peace & things that make them feel peaceful inside; as well as any things we do/say in church that are directly to do with peace. They wrote prayers for peace into dove-shapes and cut them out & an Owly team stuck them to the pink backdrop; and they each wrote peace-promise cards (sparkly card!) to keep. The prayers look beautiful & we're hoping to display them (and the footprints) in the church...

Then it was hometime. And I am sleepy. And full of chips, cos there were chips on the way home. Which were possibly earnt cos post-Brownies was a bit manic. Have sold some more bits of uniform though, which is always a good thing...
