I am once more at FanGirl Towers playing on the interwebs. In fact, we are all sitting here with our laptops. I like to think it's a postmodern ironic take on communication and friendship. It's an intelligent comment on society I tell you...
I am wearing a swishy dress in honour of the Squeen's birthday. That and it had remembered it was summer & the dress was hitherto unworn. It is so pretty and goes swish. And looks like a grown-up dress. It's a little big as it's a Next age 14 & they seem to be going for vanity sizing/accomodating the morbidly obese all round; but it is still pretty. Oui. It is pale blue with pink and yellow flowers. And the skirt goes out when you twirl. I have remembered why I used to like dresses when I was a small girl. And I had some very fine dresses in my youth. *pause for brief clothing-related reverie* We were allowed (within reason) to decide which clothing we were bought & my small sister would drive me to distraction my insisting on having what I did. Rah.
Anyway, swishy dresses aside... I gave Liss her birthday presents. I am, could I just point out, a gift-buying genius (and v. modest with it). Liss is now the proud owner of a lilac baking tray, a pale pink bun tin, a copy of the British Empire Horrible Histories book...and, best of all, a Viking activity book. It was a genius find on an excursion to the Maritime Museum with Pim. It tells her how to make a helmet & a battle axe, to write in runes & indeed make a "viking pancake".
There was some kitchen dancing & indeed singing while Liss and Katie did kitchen things and I sat in a corner being neither use nor ornament. Well, the dress might have managed ornamental I suppose... *looks thoughtful* Oh, but tea was quite incredibly scrummy. There was lasagna and garlic bread. I love lasagna. It makes me so very happy. And pudding was meringue with raspberries. Everything was Liss-made. She is a culinary genius. As well as a demon dancer. With oven-gloves. Oh yes...
At the moment I am curled up on the sofa under a quilt, feeling both full and sleepy. I have been introduced to NCIS, which is rather fine. Plus several things have gone back into place that had been attempting to stealth away to form the Cellular Republic of my Former Joints... We are now watching QI. Ah, Stephen Fry. He's so clever. And so, um, well, just... Liss is away to her bed... And I have been told that I shall have the honour of sleeping in the small room. With the books (possibly not so much sleep then...) and a blind. As in, something at the window tokeep out light, rather than a deception or indeed someone unsighted...
