Brownies (but no Guides as they were meeting the same time as Brownies)
The rehearsal went reasonably well. The priest was mobbed any time he happened past, but generally, it was all okay. Lots of mindless optimism.
We could only have the church until seven, so we has to get everyone across to the hall for the end of the meeting, but that was accomplished without too much stress, and there was a game of Lions in the Desert to work off some energy.
After this, I introduced Zurga, my wonderful alien creation. The Brownies were very keen to have her join. But the Leaders were mean to her and we tore her up, while saying mean things about her. To the dismay and shock of the Brownies. Who were really quite upset that we could be "not like Brownies AT ALL". So then they tried to put her back together and we talked about not being mean, and how if you hurt someone the hurt doesn't just go away. And the Brownies went into it not being what you look like that counts and how being different is okay, and how we shouldn't pick on people. All to the good. (One of the best bits of this was Spectacled Owl saying she didn't think you could be a Brownie if you had weird wiggly arms, as she tore of one of Zurga's tentacles; at which point the Brownies demonstrated, en masse, that they had wiggly arms too...)
There was a bit of a Guide meeting after they'd finished setting up for the Christmas Fair over in the school, but Mandy sent me away (with a winged escort from the Little Owl, Cinammon Owl & Barn Owl) because I was looking "pale and drawn". Charming...
