A Midsummer Night's Dream

I am just back from Pembroke - it was brilliant :)

I didn't "survive" it because of having to do my dissertation proposal & also a vastly-too-tired-Xanthe far too often ends up being a fitty-Xanthe. So Helen and I walked back in the silvery moonlight, very happy, although also, in the case of H, barefoot.

It was so much fun! There was food I could eat. And there was a ceilidh - we did two dances then stopped as it was very hot & I was rather purply-blue. But it was all fine and luckily the St John's Ambulance/Red Cross people were not about to witness this, as people do so often get a bit over-excited. But it was FUN! Even if my hips and knees think otherwise...

There was an attenuated "Dream" in Old Court as well - it was very VERY good & Helen and I stealthed-in-ballgowns ever nearer to the front to be able to hear better. The urge to SHUSH noisy people was quite high, mind you...

I did not go on the bouncy castle, tempting as it was. I do not think I could somersault in this dress... the bucking-bronco and bungee run did not appeal for much the same reason (the dress, I mean...)

It was just so cool & there were many many of my fabby-friend-type-peoples there e.g. Helen/Sarah/Tosin/Betsy/Katie/Priya/Alice/Mary/Rosie/Jo... all in all it was vair shiny.

And now I shall go to bed.

"You spotted snakes with double tongue,
Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen;
Newts and blind-worms do no wrong,
Come not near our Fairy Queen.
Philomel, with melody,
Sing in our sweet lullaby,
Lulla, lulla, lullaby; lulla, lulla, lullaby;
Never harm, nor spell, nor charm,
Come our lovely lady nigh;
So good night with lullaby."

may ball, pretty sparkly things, sleepy, theatre
