I have had such a fine weekend...
I would like everyone to be impressed that I was up and awake and dressed and generally ready for Rosie to arrive shortly before nine on Friday morning. Because we both were... We did, um, not-very-much during the day, other than shopping. We did get about our own body weight in fruit mind you. Which was quite impressive. Mmm, fruit... L'après-midi we went to the station to meet Kitty, and when we got back to college we sat about in my room as it was really rather warm. To put it mildly.
Rosie and I collected the Pim from the station. As it was very busy, we decided to stand on a bench and wave like unto manic waving things to ensure she did not miss us. It worked.
Then we bopped into town and met Kitty & bought tea from the Van of Life (who helpfully had things I can eat beyond chips, which I personally think is a bonus and a plus) which we ate sitting outside Great St Mary's. And I managed not to spill ketchup on my swishy skirt and/or my white t-shirt... Huzzah...
After tea we went to meet Katie & Liss at the bus station. Pim, Rosie & I danced in a manic fashion to attract their attention. Again, it worked, although the girl stood just in front of them as they were crossing the road did look, er, a bit perturbed. And then we all went back to College & more sitting-about ensued...
On Saturday, once we were all up & washed & things (I am still impressed I fitted five people into my room, by the way) we went into town. Somebody bought her own body weight in fudge & then we went to the Haunted Bookshop, where there was much coveting and some buying. I bought a copy of the 1972 Guide Annual. It has Cliff Richard, instructions for making paper flowers, Guides foiling villains, and a fox plotting world domination. What more could one ask for in a book, really??? We also went and bought bread & things, and then picnic-ed in grand style in the meadows by the Cam. Quite a lot of food was eaten. And the shade stealthed. And the trees ATTACKED. Which is, as we all know, norty...
Post-lunch, we went punting. It was rather splendid, and Rosie and Katie are SUPERB. They truly surpassed themselves, particuarly Katie, it must be said... We also fed some ducks, once of whom tried to eat my hand. Clearly I was not swift enough at getting the bread out. Or possibly it was a psychotic-killer duck. It could go either way really. And I am veering towards the latter myself...
Samedi soir Kitty, Rosie, Pim & I went to the playground on Lammas land with Jennie. Which was muchly fun, despite the rather raucous local youth. And the pollen. Grr, pollen, grr. I also got bitten (by an insect) while we were there & my leg is now looking rather special. Gah... Ooh yes, and there was watching of Dr Who as well. Including hysterical-laughter over the fact the possessed-guy-who-got-sucked-into-space was John Maynard Something...
Sunday we did not do terribly much... We did, however, play croquet, which was immensely fine. Mwahaha - mallets! And Rosie and I maded lunch and I managed not to throw it over myself, which is always good when wearing light colours and eating vegetably-tomatoey pasta sauce... Rosie and I took the Pim back to the station in the early evening, and waved very enthusiastically. And ran alongside the train... La... Le soir, post tea (sausages, mash & baked beans, in case anyone was that interested) we went to Jennie's room to watch her new Bill Bailey DVD. It was incredibly funny. Sadly, however, there was a quite extended game of poke-the-Xanthe being played. *glowers*
And now the Kitty is on her way home & the Rosie and I might do some Guidey things. Or sleep. Sleep is always a good option...
