It's cold here, at least by San Francisco standards. It's 52 degrees F. Okay, so I'm spoiled! I took a photo from my balcony showing where the ocean is from where I live. The green area at the end of the road is a national park called "Fort Funston". It's part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The Fort dates from the second World War and has gun emplacements for huge coastal artillery. The guns are gone but the tunnels and emplacements are still there. Fort Funston is one of the most beautiful places in SF and is a mecca for walkers and dog people. There is also the only "hang-gliding" port in the city at Fort Funston. The hang-gliders step off a cliff overlooking the ocean and soar around. It's beautiful to watch until one of them crashes. That does happen sometimes but I've never heard of one of them being killed. Probably lots of bruises and broken bones. And, shattered egos. :-)

Anyway, the Pacific Ocean is just behind that green rise at the end of the street. It's about a block from my apartment.
