everybody knows where you go when the sun goes down

It's hard out here for a mutant. (It really is.) Some days you end up so penniless and sad that you've got to do cheap human pet tricks on street corners to scrape up enough money for a box of instant ramen and a pack of cigarettes. Some days you end up living in the sewers or Antarctica (fuck Antarctica, man) or wherever-the-hell-else because ( Read more... )

"I could get you a cigarette," Wanda says, thoughtfully, drifting past the table edge, "but it'd all be rather moot, as it'd be one of your own."

"Belle, belle, mon cher," oh, god, Remy, really? He's so wounded, Wanda, can't you tell. It's awful. "You're breakin' de masquerade. Or whatever. What's it called?"

She moves past Remy by a pace, and then leans over his shoulder a little bit, resting one hand against the table ledge for balance. It's playfully flirtatious, and by now they're obviously pretty comfortable with each other -- it's strange to think how long this has been going on, especially since they went into the relationship expecting rapid implosion.

"It's not a masquerade if there's only the two of us right now," she informs him, matter-of-fact.

"An' here I am behavin' myself for once an' everything." The smoke is from his pants being on fire, yes. Remy leans back enough to peer at Wanda. "You wan' your fortune told?"

Wanda considers the offer, and instead of responding immediately, casually drapes herself in Remy's lap sideways. What, no one else is there! And she's playful about it- she's more affectionate in...semi-private than most people might have expected, with her grand-dame way of doing things.

"No, I rather think some things are better left to mystery." And she'd like to think, these days, that she makes her own future. "I'll just play bouncer and ascertain none of your divination-seeking customers get out of line, should you tell them they're destined for something embarrassing."

Fortunes are very rarely anything so specific, but she is trollin'. He brings it out in her, okay.

That gets no objection from this end, and Remy tucks one arm around her, helpfully. In truth, he wasn't ever that surprised by her behavior - strong women tend to do most things the same way. Fight hard, love hard. Or troll, as the case may be.

"Now that I got you to protect me, belle, I feel safer'n I ever felt~"
