why cant things just end....a.k.a.-stop beating the dead horse
So this morning I was flipping through the channels and I caught the saved by the bell movie where Zach and Kelly get married. I turned it on right as Zach's father stops Gilbert Godfriend from spitting vows at an Elvis like Chapel. At this point it kind of hit me. I hate this. Why couldnt of the series just ended with the whole high school graduation or whatever. As much as I did kind of enjoy an occasional College Years episode, I would have enjoyed the future of these high schoolers to be left to my imagination. In some cases entertainment finds clever ways to reinvent itslef, but most of the time it just keeps on milking a dead cow. I am going to list my top 10 favorite " They shoulda stopped while they were ahead's". Feel free to add to the list with any form of pop culture.
1) Saved by the Bell - Beat the Dead Horse - "Save by the Bell: The College Years, The New Class, and the wedding movie (it just wasnt the same without Belding)
2) Scream - Beat the Dead Horse - Scream 2 and 3 (shut up Travis) (one of the most clever hip horror ideas just couldnt leave well enough alone with just one movie, horror movies never seem to leave well enough alone as long as the moneys there)
3) Bo and Luke Duke - beat the dead horse - Coy and Vance Duke (as if the show wasnt paper thin to begin with)
4) The A-Team -beat the dead horse - The A-Team and Amy Allen ( I believe that women should be included in everything, except as members of the A-team!)
5) Van Halen 1, 1984, multiple other albums - beat the dead horse - Van Halen Diver Down (why Eddie why!)
6) Guns and Roses Lies, Appetite, Both use your Illusions - Beat the dead horse - The spaghetti incident and the new group they like to pass as Guns and Roses ( Stop Axel please just stop!)
7) The Land Before Time - beat the dead horse The Land Before Time 2-19 ( I stopped counting after 5)
8) Happy Days - beat the dead horse - Happy Days without Ron Howard (they should have called it shitty days)
9) The Karate Kid -beat the dead horse - Karate Kid 2-3 and the utterly unwatchable Next Karate Kid ( Would have never guessed that Hilary Swank would go on to multiple Oscar nods)
10) Star Wars 4-6 - beat the dead horse - Star Wars 1-3 ( The new three werent that bad, but in comparison to 4-6????????????? It's the equivilant of eating the fish at Jubans, then eating the fish sandwich at McDonalds)
