Still croaking :P

My voice is halfway back, no treatment seems to work properly (probably because the only treatment they have given me in the last 2 months has been stomach protectors :P) and I'm still not working. But I'm reading a lot! =D

Hmmm some news... I have a R.O.U.S. in my house. It's probably nesting inside our old sofas, and it's grey. Woke me up a couple of weeks ago at 3 in the morning, the little pest, because it was having a night sightseeing tour all over my library and dropping things to the floor while he was at it LOL I've decided to name him Mortimer, a name I borrowed from a reference in a Smallville fic :D Kudos to them! And my cat, Mei, is going bonkers trying to catch him =D

The woman who was renting our beach apartment has called today to say that she's leaving, which means that once again I'll have to take care of that mortgage (too!) *sigh* Which makes things really difficult if I have to move to that new town this July, because I'll have to pay TWO mortgages plus the rent of my new apartment >_< Still trying to see how I'll manage, but I've done it before, and I'll do it again, even if it's ramen for a while :P

And as for ALL my free time, you wouldn't believe what passes for slash e-novels nowadays. I can't believe I've paid up to $12 for 'novels' no longer than 10 Word pages. Many of these novels cost the same as a *printed* novel, so where's the supposed advantage? When there's a printed version, most of the times they take a couple of dollars off the price and that's it, the great advantage of not consuming paper. Sometimes, the ebook costs MORE than the printed book (I still can't believe that, I've just checked it to make sure that it's still like that...). I still remember when I first bought my first slash novel (printed) from Amazon (cost me $13) and then I saw the ebook version in the Publishing House website and it was $4, and I was all "O__O Wow, this is how it has to be, no printing, production costs bye byeee..." And now? The prices don't vary that much :S And sometimes, if the novel is NOT a novel, but a ficlet, they conveniently forget to add the information about the length of the book ¬¬#
And the paaaain!!! Where're the Betas??? Sorry, where are the EDITORS???? I guess I got spoiled by good fanfic writers with excellent Betas, but I still cringe when I think I spent money in books where 'you're' and 'your' are synonyms >____< I'm a teacher, and those mistakes draw my eyes like magnets, and they distract me to the point that I no longer enjoy the book...

In any case, I have also found good writers with lovely lengthy novels ^^ I specially enjoyed the writing style and the stories by Jules Jones.

Tehehe, also I'm a pervy reader, and other authors just make me feel as if I'm enjoying the gay version of a Harlequin novel *_* I've come to appreciate novels from Kim Dare, Joyee Flynn, Stephani Hecht, D. J. Manly, Amber Kell and Stormy Glenn, among others. Their books are hot, fun, easy to read and they cheer me up =D Right now, I'm into Shifters slash (not only werewolves *giggle*), vampires, mages and, from time to time, good old romance between normal, everyday people... who happen to be gay :P I'm a happy 'Mate-finds-Mate' addict =D And with these people, I can be sure that it's going to be more than 'hunk finds hole' ¬¬!! Those parts can get boring after... oh, a hundred of novels or so LMAO

I love my brother because he got me the Kindle, so I can read (and buy more so I can keep reading) anywhere I go (to the doctors', mainly). Even if the prices are killing me :P And even if I have to endure 'you're vs your' 16 times in single chapter. Or characters that suddenly are f*cking themselves because nobody noticed the author mixed up the names *snort* That one had me laughing for a while, at least.

So that's it. My voice is still on and off, but I'm a happy perv for as long as somebody points me to a good, lenghty, original slash novel. Anny suggestions? ;)
