It’s the promise of summer that makes him fall in love with Kurt. It’s the days of school that seems swept away in new blustery-warm days, it’s sun-soaked mornings waiting for Kurt’s car in the parking lot, it’s the smell of growing grass and the buzzing of spring bees in budding flowers that fills the air of the Lima Bean’s outdoor patio, this anticipation of waking up each day to sunlight and sandals and the itch of spring fever. It’s knowing that it may not happen overnight, eventually the world will go from cold-blue snowy nights, rigid ice and lonely fog, to days dawned bright, drenched in daffodil sunrises. It’s watching the strands of Kurt’s rich brown hair bleach on long afternoons and picnics, it’s running with Kurt in make-shift backyard soccer games, all grass stains and legs stretched and heart light, it’s Kurt’s laughter that floats out open car windows and streams away with the wind when they skip class, it’s the freckles dotted along Kurt’s cheeks, soft and delicate, when Blaine leans in to kiss him.
