Behind every cd there's a story. Behind ours, is 210 miles, 2 hours of getting lost in Columbia, and 13 straight hours in a studio. We spent 525 dollars this weekend, and it was the most satisfying 525 dollar present ever. For every band, a demo is more than just a cd with music. It's a symbol of hard work, commitment, and success. Perhaps, just a step in success but still the significance is there.
Friday, I was in awe when I stepped into Modern Music Studios in Irmo, SC. In one room was a Marshall JCM 900 Triple Super Lead Half Stack, Ampeg 4x12 guitar cab w/ a Peavey 5150 head, a shelf with at least 20 effect pedals. Another room was the nicest sound equipment I have ever seen. This may sound like jibber jabber to most of you kids, but we were like little kids in a candy store.
After I laid the click tracks for Gordon, we went on to find our way back to USC. But that wasn't it, Gordon, Tyler, Jamie and I stopped at the Mall in Columbia. MALLRATS!! I swear, everyone in that mall probably thought we were on crack.
After being a mallrat for 30 minutes we made our way back to campus where we got dinner at the cafeteria and they had the worst chick fila ever. Shit sucked. waste of 6 bucks.
Why the fuck do they have Christmas decorations up? It's not even Thanksgiving yet.
I think I hate Columbia. We definitely got lost in that city they call our capitol for about 2 hours. We ended up going all the way out to the Lou Holtz stadium which is outside of the city. The Marble Slab in Columbia is way cooler than the one here, but the ice cream wasn't the best.
Eventually we found our way back to USC and Logan lead us back to the g-pa's where we stayed.
Why the fuck did we have to get up at 7:30 in the morning? We didn't even leave until 9:45. Damn that sucked. Got to the studio at 10:30 and began drums. Logan and I played along with Gordon and the click tracks and that went really easy. Logan's string popped so he got to use Pat's Peavey 5 string bass. Chinese food for lunch. and back to recording. Logan recorded. I recorded. Tyler recorded. Then Jamie did his vocals. Then Tyler did his screaming. It was as simple as that. I got to use the Marshall JCM and Tyler used a friends 5150. Sounded damn good. Then we went out to eat. Came back, Pat had already began mixing. I think i fell asleep on the couch. Woke up around 11:45 and hot damn he was almost done. Shit dude it sounds soooooooooooooooooo fucking good. but other than how well recording went, i am fucking tired as shit. this weekend was awesome. we're recording 2 more songs at gordons house, which will make a 5 song demo. which should be ready in about 3 weeks? but yeah that's all for now.
gordon, tyler, logan, and jamie... i love you guys
