Ex Urbe
So the anonymous writer of my favourite history/culture blog, Ex Urbe, has just outed herself as the American historian Ada Palmer. And she's got a book out soon with Tor! And there's a photo of her wearing an amazing coat here! And she's blogging for Tor!
This is a great thing because Ex Urbe is awesome and well worth reading for the posts on Machiavelli and the Borgias alone. Palmer is currently posting a series of articles about philosophy and skepticism, which are so far over my head I don't even know where to start, but you should go read them anyway because she's a fantastic writer who loves Rome, the Borgias, snark and gelato, and these are all awesome things I thoroughly approve of.
