08. The Templar Legacy - Steve Berry

Wow, two books in one month. How do I manage? This is really sad, I used to read 2-3 books a week. I need more time to myself!

This book is a lot like Dan Brown's novels, especially with the Templar slant. Reading this book made me realize how crazy it is that so much of the religious views are completely based on blind faith, and how the church manages to gloss over so many inconsistencies. I was shocked, but realized that everything Berry wrote was true. The gospels do not add up, something is missing, and yet, many (or most or all) Christians ignore it. I didn't even realize it. The brainwashing... astounding. But in the end, if it's faith, then it's faith, and it's not going to hurt anyone to have faith - as long as they don't become fanatics.

The premise of the book is that the Templars are the guardians of something that could rock the very foundation of Christianity - mainly the bones of Jesus. But no one is quite sure that that is what is being hidden, as the Templars were "exterminated" in the early 1300's. The book is a search for what the Great Device is, and where it is hidden. There are many parallels to Brown's novels, and follows in the same vein. The book is a mystery/adventure novel.
